160 years of commitment to Switzerland
One hundred and sixty years ago, the Schweizerische Kreditanstalt – today's Credit Suisse – was founded by Alfred Escher, among other things to develop the railways in Switzerland. Alfred Escher was not only the founder of Credit Suisse, but also the driving force behind the Gotthard Railway and the first Gotthard Tunnel – a masterpiece of its time. For Credit Suisse, it is thus both an honor and an obligation to support "Gottardo 2016" – the opening celebrations for the construction project of the century, the Gotthard Base Tunnel – as a main partner.
Coop and SBB – for shared values
"The Gotthard base tunnel represents values such as innovation and reliability. These are Swiss values which have also shaped Coop in the past and will continue to do so in future. The shared, uniting values of SBB and Coop should be tangible in the Gottardo campaign: proximity, Swissness and quality. We are proud of our contribution to this once-in-a-lifetime event."
– Joos Sutter, Chairman of the Coop Executive Committee
Swiss Mobiliar – social responsibility by tradition
The centennial project "Gottardo" represents a vision that is being realised thanks to creativity and perseverance and that is on its way to becoming a landmark in Swiss history. Our partnership with "Gottardo 2016" offers an ideal platform for making our long-term commitment to Swiss society known to a wider public, especially as art and culture form a key element of this commitment. Swiss Mobiliar with its mutual structure has upheld a tradition of social responsibility since its foundation in 1826.
Mondaine
Powerful innovation talent is something the SBB and Swiss watchmaker Mondaine share - not only as of 2016 with the opening of the world’s longest rail tunnel. In fact, concerning travel, Mondaine was a step ahead with an innovative station clock that made its way from platform to wrist in 1986. The legendary 1944-born SBB station clock thus initiated its journey round the world - and has since become a Swiss design icon that we’re proud of. We’re equally as proud in participating as main partner of the aforementioned tunnel project too!

The Group employs a total of 6,000 people, of which 3,000 are based in Switzerland. In future, Stadler Rail’s newly developed EC250 will travel through the Gotthard Tunnel as a NRLA train. This train is the first single-decker low-floor multiple-unit train in the world that can reach speeds of 250 km/h.
Power and productivity for a better world
ABB has been at the forefront of technological progress in Switzerland and around the world since 1891 – from the efficient production of electrical energy, to enhancements to industrial productivity, all the way to sustainable mobility. Thus, the history of Swiss rail traffic is inseparably linked to the company’s leading edge technologies – from the Gotthardbahn rail network to the Gotthard Base Tunnel. This project of the century stands for entrepreneurial spirit, innovation and quality – all values embodied by ABB. This is why ABB is proud to be a main partner of the «Gottardo 2016» grand opening period.
